If you think about it, one of the most basic needs of humans is touch. Touch can be nurturing, soothing, and relaxing. One of the most effective forms of touch is through massage. Massage can benefit the body mentally, emotionally, and spiritually by reducing stress and anxiety and giving you a sense of well being and feeling relaxed. Massage also enhances overall body awareness. There are many different modalities of massage. Therapeutic massage is one such modality as well as regular Swedish massage. Therapeutic massage differs from regular massage in that it works deeper into tissue and targets specific muscle groups.

What can I expect from receiving a massage?
Upon your first visit, you will be required to fill out a Health History Questionnaire. After that, the Health form is updated if any changes have occurred or 2 years have passed. We will then discuss any concerns that you may have and go over what areas you want the body work focused on. I will excuse myself from the room so you can undress down to whatever you are comfortable with. A table will be set up with sheets on it, just lay on the table between the sheets facing up or down according to what we decide on. I will knock on the door before entering. Please feel free to let me know if anything feels uncomfortable. This is your time, it belongs to you! I will check in by asking if the pressure needs to be adjusted . After the session, I will excuse myself so you will have privacy to dress. Remember to take your time getting off the table, you may feel pretty groggy! If necessary, we will discuss future sessions to focus on the issues that need to be addressed.
