Daddy Blog: Logistics of a Run

I’m here to come clean. Sometimes, I feel guilty for not running with the pack. I also sometimes (more these days) feel guilty for not being at home with little Boris and Natasha as well. It is often very difficult to prioritize family and personal and work all at the same time. So difficult, in fact, that I often suffer from the dreaded “Analysis Paralysis” (which I’ve learned does not have to do with incapacitating oneself from the wrong end).

Stop Losing Bimblers in the Woods

I just came across this item which might be of particular interest to Lamb, Fruit Punch, Rocky, and others…

DC™ 30 GPS Dog Tracking Collar

Apparently, you wear this around your neck, and your keepers will be able to follow you through the woods. That way, you no longer have to constantly be running back to find them, and show them the way to go!

Latest word on the WSER

Word around the blogs is that the race has officially been cancelled. Haven’t received official word yet but all the reports that I’d seen were not good, so it isn’t really a surprise.

Further to that, the race has now been officially cancelled. :-( Bye bye grand slam, over without taking a single step.

Western States under threat of cancellation

Here is some worrying news, it seems there has been discussion about the need to cancel this year’s race due to forest fires. Access to some aid stations is said to be impassable and the level of smoke hanging in the air is reported to be unhealthy. That sucks!

Go west young man! Don’t trust anyone over thirty?

OK, so Horace Greeley and Jerry Rubin uttered these now famous words long before I did, but it still applies. It struck me this past weekend there there are two momentous “rights of passage” taking place in the local Bimbler community. One of our Bimblers, the archetype for all other Bimblers, is on the verge, while the other, one of our younger Bimblers, has stepped over the threshold. Read more

Taking Small Bites Out Of The Bluff

June 23, 2008 by iggy · 3 Comments

While enjoying coffee, tea and muffins after what was a really warm and beautiful trail run around the lake at Cockaponsett, the requests for training runs on The Bluff course poured in. Sunday dogs runs will be held at various locations along the course so that the course can be experienced in sections. For those of you who have never visited The Mica Ledges, The Bluff or gotten a “fun nun run” from the Monastery, you won’t want to miss out on these opportunities to sample The Bluff in sections. The warm sunshine might have seemed almost perfect running weather, and a mile might appear to be an easy distance to take on, but imagine attempting that in tidal waters after only 3 or 4 practice sea swims this summer. That is exactly what Scoobie was faced with today (Saturday June 21, 2008) as she took on the Madison Mile Swim, at the Surf Club, Madison. Read more
