2009 Calendar… Bimbleness
December 17, 2008 by iggy · 4 Comments
While out for snowy run at The Quarry we got this fun bathtub shot so I figured why not make it an impromptu calendar!! Thanks to the ladies who posed for this one and thanks to The Mayor for taking the shot – maybe we’ll do a bathtub calendar every year. I just wish more Bimblers were in the photo…. but there is always next year! If you want to order one they are available at http://www.cafepress.com/fromthestudio ! I ordered a few samples and they came out awesome …high quality one page wall calendars are printed on glossy, 12 point postcard stock paper and measure 11″ x 17″.
Cheers & Bimbleness, Iggy
The Ups and Downs of Hellgate
December 16, 2008 by Spuds · 6 Comments
Of the races that I have run over the past few years, Hellgate has to be one of my favorites for reasons that have already been so eloquently voiced by Messrs Bimble and El Toro. The night start, the remote course, the chance of extreme weather: all of these factors add up to ensure that when you finish this one, you know you have pushed yourself as hard as you should ever want to (particularly as it’s only for a bit of fun!). That being said, my reasons for running this year were a little more laid back than in previous years. Read more
Hot Times, Cold Weather: Hellgate 2008
December 15, 2008 by El Toro · 7 Comments
So Hellgate has been on my radar for several weeks now and I was pumped at the idea of completing my first 100k. The stories I had heard from other Bimblers (icy weather, treacherous footing, Horton miles, freezing eyeballs) were both daunting and exciting but I loved the idea of adventure and overcoming the challenges. On the other hand, no matter who you are or what races you’ve done, hearing such tales of peril and difficulty is enough to give anyone pause. Read more

Spotted an interesting hydration pack recently that is made by GoLite and described as No Bounce. It uses strap to control bottle movement and also has 2 side pouches for those essential items like Gu packets etc and is claimed to be ergonomically designed to fit women as well.
Hellgate 100k
December 15, 2008 by Mr Bimble · 4 Comments
At the end of the race someone asked me why I’ve continued to return to run Hellgate (this was my 6th), because they thought the event had been so hard. Well strangely the fact that it isn’t easy (as no ultras are), is one of the reasons. Then there is the atmosphere created by the race director and other competitors, the start time (12:01 am) and lastly unpredictable factors caused by the weather (OK, so maybe I’m also slightly nuts as well!).
