Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.

April 1

The first of April, some do say
Is set apart for All Fool’s Day;
But why the people call it so
Nor I, nor they themselves, do know,
But on this day are people sent
On purpose for pure merriment.
[--Poor Robin's Almanac (1790)--]

Louis Zamperini

“In the morning he rose to run again. He didn’t run from something or to something, not for anyone or in spite of anyone; he ran because it was what his body wished to do. The restiveness, the self consciousness, and the need to oppose disappeared. All he felt was peace.” From Unbroken By Laura Hillenbrand

In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Statistics from Ultrarunning The Year in Review

GREAT NEWS: The 2011 Bimbler’s Bluff 50k was ranked 100 in the list of top 100 ultra marathons in North America in the March edition of Ultrarunning magazine.

Other statistics show that the number of ultrarunners has doubled in 4 years. In percentages though, female ultrarunners remain at 28% same as four years ago. On an up note 18 ultras were won outright by women…SO???Where are the women??? Next time you come out for a trail run girls, bring a friend! At least to keep all the men company ;-)
