If you have a dog, you may even have to be on the lookout for the little critters even sooner. Removing ticks is sometimes tricky but the Tick Key is a neat gadget that was designed and manufactured here in Connecticut. The Tick Key claims to be able to remove all sizes of tick without the risk of leaving any part of the insect in the victims skin. Made of a lightweight alloy it isn’t going to take up much space in a fanny pack or pocket. More details can be found here.

His research shows that barefoot runners, who tend to land on their fore-foot, generate less impact shock than runners in sports shoes who land heel first. I have a Forerunner 305 and initially used the Training Center software supplied by Garmin. But recently I’ve been using another application which seems much better.

The system is called SportsTrack by ZoneFive Software. What first attracted me to the program was a search for a more accurate program to process elevation readings. GPS devices are notoriously inaccurate at measuring this and SportTrack offer an elevation plugin to correct this. The UI has a dashboard look with panes that can be changed to suit the users preference. You can download tracks straight from your GPS device or from an existing file on your computer. Even better is the program is free to use, all the creator asks is for users to make an on-line donation if they wish.
