The run started down town. The road was narrow, cars were parked on both sides and the space in between was frequently filled by fast moving vehicles. Runners appear to be an unusual hazard and with no sidewalks to speak of, the only option was to play chicken over who could slip through the gap without flinching. I lost several bouts! Read more

Supply Pond Gorge to Saltonstall

A trip to Supply Pond Gorge with a bit extra! This loop adds an out and back section into the Saltonstall Preserve via the upper trail. Starting from the center of Branford the total distance is 16.75 miles on a variety of different surfaces.

Lake Hammonasset

Lake Hammonasset, a preserve owned by the Regional Water Authority, offers a nice loop on generally non-technical trails. For a longer run it can be combined with the loop around Chatfield Hollow. To access to these trails you do require an RWA Recreation Permit. Read more
